PSYKOTIQ is a Hip-Hop artist born in Portland, OR raised in his home town Yuma, AZ. His underground vibes range from fast delivery and focus on lyrics to singing with harmonies bending multiple genres of music. At an early age PSYKOTIQ had a deep love and passion for music. Growing up, he was heavily influenced and inspired by artists such as Tech N9ne, Bone Thugs N Harmony, 2 Pac, Dr. Dre, Eminem, 50 Cent, Evanescence, Frank Sinatra, ACDC, Aerosmith, and many more. In his later years he has garnered inspiration from artists such as Yelawolf, Joyner Lucas, Kendrick Lamar, Rittz, J. Cole & Jelly Roll.
He transitioned from fanatic listener to writing his own rhymes in 2004 at the age of 13. PSYKOTIQ started recording music around the age of 16 in 2007. By 2009 he decided to go to school for audio engineering at the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Phoenix, AZ. Over the years PSYKOTIQ has recorded many projects but did not get really serious until 2020.
He Partnered up with SongBirdBlak they then formed the group Luminant Darkness. In 2022 the group album Inception along with PSYKOTIQ's first & second solo albums "Nocturnal Mania" & "Nocturnal Limbo" were released. After the achieving success from the stand out record "Hold Me" PSYKOTIQ's TikTok following grew tremendously breaking his first big milestone of over 10K followers. The final album of the nocturnal series "Nocturnal Nightmares" is set to release late 2024.

How long have you been making music and how did you get started in the first place?
I have been writing lyrics for 20+ years and recording/creating music for 17+ years. I got into it from being surrounded by the culture at a young age.
2. Who has been your biggest support throughout your journey as an artist?
My biggest support has come from my inner circle of family & people I consider family.
3. How do you prepare mentally before each and every show?
I listen to my songs on repeat and fall into my artistic head space.
4. What song of yours has been the most personal to you and why?
One of the songs that has been very personal to me is a record I made called "Vulnerable" addressing dark mentalitys, suicidal thoughts, substance abuse & loss of a family memeber. I created this record in memory of my brother's passing.
5. What do you like most about the music making process and what discourages you the most?
Making music has and always will be therapy. I can take any situation, any mind set or any problem and turn it into music form. The most discouraging element would be managing so many different social media platforms and the time consumption to do so.
6. Who are some of your biggest influences and why?
A few of my biggest influences are Tech N9ne, Yelawolf & Dr. Dre. All three are musically influential and inspiring in different ways. Their businesses and ecosystems they have built around their brands with longevity in the music industry is phenomenal.
7. What are some things you have learned throughout your music career that has been very beneficial to your career as an artist?
I have learned that time and effort working towards your goals is key. Studying the game and mastering your craft is crucial.
8. If you can use one word to describe your fans, what would it be and why?
Multicultural because they are from all different walks of life and cultures.
9. Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what do you hope to accomplish?
A 5 year plan is in place but the world's not ready to hear it, I would rather show you by actions over time than tell you.
10. How do you want to be remembered at the end of your career?
I want to be remembered as a real emcee, true artist and someone that saved lives through music.
11. What artists would you like to work with in the future and why?
I would love to work with numerous artists that are further along on their journey if the opportunity was to arise. Their artistry is not only inspirational but unmatched. The goal would be to make records that are timeless.
12. What was the inspiration behind your latest song "Internally Bleeding"?
The inspiration for "Internally Bleeding" comes from inner struggles. The song is about battling your inner demons and fighting your dark thoughts while embracing yourself and staying true to who you are.
13. What advice would you give to someone looking to pursue a career in music?
Be patient and take the time to get good at what you're doing. Put in 10,000+ hours to each element of your craft. Making it in the short term is like winning the lottery, the majority of artists that have "made it" have been working at it for years. Everyone's journey is different for some it might be a few years for others it might be decades. Stay positive, find motivation and manifest your dreams.
14. What has been one of the most toughest challenges throughout your career and how did you overcome it?
The toughest challenge has been dealing with mental illness and not letting life get in the way of passion. Prioritizing what truly matters along with time management has been a great equalizer.
15. What are some of your goals you are looking forward to accomplish in 2024?
In 2024 we plan to drop 15+ music videos, multiple freestyle videos, release numerous singles along with my upcoming album Nocturnal Nightmares, build my solo youtube to over 10k subscribers and reveal the movie that we scored that is set for release this fall.
